DESCRIPTION:Somatic Care Circle \nOctober 12th\, 2024 – 15:00-18:00 @Casa-Kua \nOur bodies are deeply influenced by the power dynamics and structures that have historically dominated and dictated our lives. To break the cycle of harmful patterns we experience\, it’s essential to intentionally engage in decolonial practices of bodywork and collective care. Somatic practice is a way to reclaim the body within the broader journey towards social justice and healing. In this Somatic Care Circle\, participants are invited to examine how dominant systems have shaped their relationships with their bodies and to develop new ways of being that prioritize care\, connection\, and embodiment. It offers participants tools and practices for active breathing and somatic awareness\, as well as extending and receiving care. Clear communication\, consent\, and the mindful acknowledgment of boundaries are central to this practice. The Circle aims to challenge the isolation perpetuated by dominant systems and to offer a model of collective healing that honors self-determination and the inherent wisdom of the body. Attending the circle can be a recurring practice of showing up for ourselves and creating intentional space for connection and communal care. \nAbout the facilitator:\nSadaf Javdani (they) is a somatic practitioner in training\, with several years of experience in writing on social justice\, as well as social work\, counseling and community organising. Having been involved in QTI*BIPoC activist communities in both formal and informal roles for years\, they are committed to integrate learnings developed through trauma-informed activism\, transformative justice\, and politicized somatics to create a facilitation style that is radically bold and fiercely soft. DESCRIPTION:For cutie BIPOC * Queer\, Trans* and Inter Black\, Indigenous and People of Color. \nEN: The NADA protocol is the standardized acupuncture of 5 ear points in a special setting that has proven to be an effective treatment for people suffering from stress\, trauma\, or a wide variety of mental health conditions.NADA involves the gentle placement of up to five small\, sterilized\, disposable needles at specific points on each ear. Recipients* sit quietly in a group setting for 30-45 minutes and allow the treatment to take effect.\nNADA was developed in New York’s South Bronx in the 1970s by members of the Black Panther Party and Young Lords to address addiction in the Black and Puerto Rican communities.\nTreatment under the NADA protocol helps people to\nwant to better cope with daily stresses\nsuffer from stress and burnout symptoms\nneed to cope with traumatic experiences\nsuffer from restlessness and sleep disorders\nwant to cope better with pain\nwho are addicted or have problems with alcohol and or drugs\nwho are mentally ill\nhave problems with hyperactivity or eating disorders\nwant to stop smoking.\nThere are no known medical contraindications. DESCRIPTION:Many of us\, particularly those from marginalized communities\, have developed layers of firmness\, solidity\, and protective barriers necessary to navigate and survive in this society. Others may struggle to find a secure connection between the rigid external forces around them and the sensitive\, emotional worlds within.\nThis space offers an invitation to explore something rarely encouraged in a capitalist\, supremacist\, and patriarchal system: the softness within our bodies and hearts.\nWhat happens when we shift our focus to sensations\, feelings\, and movement in a safer space? What do we discover when we allow ourselves to journey inward? And how does it affect us when we collectively share our personal paths toward softness?\nThis is an experimental space where we will draw upon Somatics and FluentBody wisdom\, not to achieve specific goals\, but to simply be with soft parts of our emotional\, physical\, and mental selves in a shared collective connection.\nFacilitator: My name is Rafia Shahnaz\, and I am a Being constantly evolving—growing and shedding along the way. I’ve gathered my knowledge of care and healing practices through life’s journeys: seeking\, migration\, communities\, mentors\, friends\, elders\, and my mother. I have institutional studies in fields of social work\, art therapy\, psychedelics and somatics\, Fluent Body and compassionate inquiry.\nAs a queer migrant raised with the influences of Sufism and Bollywood\, yet forced to build thick protective layers to function in Germany\, softness holds deep importance in my life at this moment.
